The village school

This grade II listed Victorian school, located deep in the Devon countryside near Axminster, enjoyed success that was outstripping the facilities it had to offer. We developed a masterplan to take the school into the 21st century. This included a three-classroom extension for Foundation and Keystage 1 pupils together with a programme of extensive alterations to the existing listed building. The form and materials of the new buildings draw inspiration from local stone and flint barns as well as the church nearby.
