This back-to-brick refurbishment project has given a new lease of life to this wonderful house, whilst bringing it up to date for 21st century living. Working with interior designers Van Renen GW Designs the house has been transformed whilst retaining all of it’s original grace and presence. The new Boot and Gun room extension is attached to the house by a glazed entrance link, allowing the internal plan to be re-organised so the flow of spaces worked throughout the day.
A new green-oak framed barn houses the home office, play space and plant room. The house now benefits from a biomass boiler and solar photovoltaic panel array with battery storage. Coupled with a significantly improved thermal envelope, the house is an exemplar for how to update historic buildings to meet the energy conservation challenges of today.
